Period 1 (8:15 – 9:05): Matt Bowen, NFL writer/analyst for the Chicago Tribune, 670 The Score, CSN Chicago, and WGN Morning News. Matt is a 7-Year NFL veteran as well.
Period 2 (9:10 – 10:00): Susan Kaye Quinn, author of the bestselling young adult SF Mindjack Trilogy. Susan also worked at NASA and designed aircraft engines.
Period 3 (10:05 – 10:55): Returning performance group!! The Neo-Futurists, a collection of writers, directors and performers that fuse together sport, poetry, and living newspaper live onstage. Most known for their show, “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind.”
Period 4 (11:00 – 11:50): Palatine High School Faculty Published Authors: Chris Quick, English Teacher – Memoir: One Way – Uphill Only; Sean Berleman, English Teacher – Children’s Books: Dora the Explorer – Camera Contest; Tonka Firetruck; Bob The Builder Builds a Petting Zoo; Nick Hostert, Art Teacher – Academic Writing including Uncommon Dialogue: Digital Critique Beyond the Art
Period 5 (11:55 – 12:45): Returning performance group!! Café Con Milk, a musical poetry group consisting of Luis Tubens & Yamil Rodriguez. Tubens and Rodriquez write poetry that depicts the realities of urban existence.
Period 6 (12:50 – 1:40): Agnes Schwartz, Holocaust survivor, author of A Roll of the Dice: A Memoir of a Hungarian Survivor
Period 7 (1:45 – 2:35): Student and Faculty Writing
Period 8 (2:40 – 3:30): J.W. Basillo, National and World Poetry Slam finalist, J.W. is also a writer, performer, playwright, comedian, musician, and educator from Chicago. His stage act, a Vaudevillian mash-up of poetry, music, comedy and storytelling, has earned him a reputation as one of the more sought-after and compelling spoken word artists working today.
